Getting to know Uranus this Full Moon.
First off, we have a tricky mercury retrograde happening, during this Full Moon, so expect things to feel especially unclear and difficult around the middle of the month up until the 26th. I
On top of this Mercury Retrograde, and most importantly, zany Uranus, the Harmony Korine or Tim Burton of the planets, will be exactly square the Full Moon. Full Moon+Uranus square=“Beetlejuice”-level odd vibes.
But why the potential weirdness? It’s time we learned more about Uranus, the planet whose name makes adolescents laugh no matter how we pronounce it.
When it comes to Astrology, the visible planets are the ones we are most familiar with: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and, to some extent, Saturn. Unlike “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus,” there are no bestsellers about Uranus. It is too unconventional to be popular. Even its planetary spin is odd: while all the other planets have their poles tilted in the same way as the poles of the Sun, Uranus’s axis is tilted 98 degrees relative to the plane of the solar system. It basically spins on its side.
This quirkiness is reflected in its planetary influence. With its lopsided motion, it throws curveballs to other planets and houses, keeping things off balance. It is the “surprise” planet, the wild card, the Joker, the jazz drummer, operating in odd time signatures.
Because this quirky Uranus energy will tightly aspecting the Moon (our emotional Center), we may be feeling off kilter around the 19th of August. The Moon, which is happiest when things are steady and stable, doesn’t like the kind of tricks Uranus trafficks in. Indeed Uranus / Moon aspects tends to bring up intense emotions--but it also can bring out unconventional and new ways of feeling toward things.
So be open to quirkiness this full Moon. Go full Uranus. It is, after all happening in the sign of the unique Waterbearer. This should be a week with strange events that might jolt us into greater archetypal conscious. The more you embrace the weird the better--but then, that goes for life regardless of this Uranus transit.
