The Synastry of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

ree

The faithful reader of “11th House Prophecies”—your go-to spot for astro-goss—will recognize that the title for this week’s article riffs on the title for last week’s, which looked at the astrology of hot new couple Pam Anderson and Liam Neeson. There, we argued that their romance could be a PR stunt to generate some spark around a movie lacking zhuzh on its own merits. Their lightweight synastry seemed to confirm this.

Is there something similar going on with the recent engagement of hunky Kansas City Chiefs star tight end, Travis Kelce, to the most famous person on the planet, Taylor Swift, pop supernova?

Indeed, the timing of this announcement looks pretty synchronized to the roll-out of Swift’s twelfth studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl” (which, incidentally, feels like a play on Pamela Anderson’s recent movie “The Last Showgirl”--–in which Pam’s performance was very well-received).

Have we reached the point of peak cynicism? Are mega stars, in their need for attention, now folding the once sacred union of souls into a glitzy PR campaign in anticipation of pop albums? Or is there REAL love here between Travis and Taylor?

The only way to answer this question? To look at the astrology of this megawatt duo, who represent the clearest crystallization of the high- school-jock-meets-popular-cheerleader-archetype that the world has ever seen.

First of all, both Taylor and Travis have unusually strong charts. Taylor benefits from four planets in rulership or exaltation, while Travis enjoys three. That’s rare. Most people are lucky to have even one. And when you see this kind of planetary dignity, it usually translates to catching all the breaks–like making some songs (like Taylor) at 10 years old or whatever and skyrocketing to global fame for the next three decades.

But let’s be clear: a strong chart doesn’t mean you’re a good person. It means you have power. And power can go either way. Plenty of morally questionable to downright evil figures have charts stacked with “dignity.” Jeffrey Dahmer, for example, had five planets in rulership. That strength didn’t make him virtuous: it helped him overpower and seduce others…and stay ahead of the law for years.

So, what we must notice right from the jump is that, in terms of dignity, Travis and Taylor have weaker charts than Jeffrey Dahmer.

Just kidding (though technically that statement is true).

What we really must notice is that Travis has a chart that stands on its own. For Swift, this could be one of the biggest cosmic romantic/astrological draws to Kelce. None of her former flames have had natal charts as powerful as the Chiefs tight end. So, while Taylor’s heaven-sent natal burns brighter, Travis’s is no chopped liver: in fact, it’s more like a juicy T-bone, large, with a robust tenderloin and strip, impressive and filling. Mmmm.

What else about Kelce’s meaty chart? Well, his Sun is conjunct Mars in Libra. Interestingly, Mars is in its "fall" in the Scales. On one hand, this is a bit strange. Given Kelce’s warrior-like football success, you'd expect a stronger Mars. But, on the other hand, this actually makes sense in terms of his relationship with Taylor. LIBRA is all about partnerships. Travis’s “fallen” Mars in this context shows that all that Martian aggression is de-fanged by its Libra placement. He can be a beast out in the world, but more of a sweet, complementary partner when it comes to Libra togetherness at home.

Moreover, his Sun (ego) is also in Libra, meaning that he shines most when having a counterweight on the Scales. Clearly, meeting Taylor has allowed him to shine even brighter. But here is the thing: he doesn’t need this counterweight to be successful. Rather, this Libra placement allows for his sense of self to grow through partnerships.

Meanwhile, Kelce’s Moon is in Sagittarius — and Taylor is a fiery Sagittarius Sun. As far as synastry goes, this is one of the “marriage” indicators. Someone’s Moon in your Sun sign and vice versa is the you complete me aspect. Emotionally, this creates deep resonance. Sag Moon is playful, philosophical, adventurous. He wants a partner to laugh, explore, and grow with. Ultimately, all of this fire suggests passion and a mutual desire for adventure.

In terms of Venus (we always want to look at the Moon and Planet Love for romance), Kelce has a Scorpio placement. Technically, Venus-in-Scorpio is in detriment here. That means there can be a fear of betrayal or even an obsessive quality to Kelce's romantic leanings. The brighter side to Venus-in-Scorpio is intense loyalty. Let’s insist on this more positive aspect of Kelce’s Venus, so Swifties don’t start freaking out about its detrimental side: fixation, obsession. Ms. Swift already has enough of that from weirdo, incel fanboys. She doesn't need it from her man.

Turning to Taylor’s natal chart, we notice, first off, her Sun is in Sagittarius: visionary, witty, expansive (all true). Sun-in-Sagittarius suggests someone who needs truth and adventure in love —they don’t settle if it's something they don't deeply believe in. Similarly, her Mars is at home in Scorpio, again suggesting someone who doesn’t chase but waits for the right moment. BUT, at the same time, Mars-in-Scorpio is also a very strategic energy. If a jaded astrologer were to look for clues as to the PR-Nature of this Travis/Taylor romance, this would be the exact placement to mount their argument.

As always, we want to look at Venus for love and romance, too, and Taylor’s resides in Aquarius: cool, independent, emotionally intelligent. Venus in Aquarius isn’t about clinginess — it's about mutual respect and loyalty on her terms. One concern about this placement: Travis could mistake this cool Aquarian detachment for lack of loyalty, triggering the darker side of his Venus-in-Scorpio. We will have to see....

And, then, finally: Taylor's Jupiter-in-Cancer. This is an extremely nurturing placement. It’s also what you want in a partner, when it comes to synastry, that is, the study of astrological compatibility to which we turn now.

The main thing to notice regarding their synastry: her Mars-in-Scorpio is conjunct his Venus-in-Scorpio. This is the core sexual/emotional driver of their chart. His Venus is in detriment (weaker), but her Mars is in its power. He’s pulled toward her — magnetized. This kind of conjunction creates passion and intense sexual attraction. But this composite placement is not for the faint of heart. It's a karmic bond, heavily shared cosmic debts and destiny.

For me, this placement alone is proof of the realness of their love–because only those really in love would survive the intensity of it. Earlier we mentioned how Taylor’s own Mars-in-Scorpio could suggest a strategic PR mindset. But, when you overlay Travis’s Venus-in-Scorpio, this “composite” chart deepens things considerably. A lot of karmic and cosmic destiny here. As a learning point: this also shows how looking at charts in isolation can distort their meanings when it comes to synastry.

As mentioned earlier, as well, Taylor’s Sun is on Travis’s Moon. Meaning: beautiful emotional and ego harmony—very high compatibility for long-term bonding.

And then, the cherry on top: they have shared Jupiter-in-Cancer, i.e. profound mutual values around home, family, tradition, and emotional roots. When you share a Jupiter sign — especially exalted Jupiter in Cancer — you tend to likewise share a belief system around what gives life meaning. This is a very auspicious placement for family-building. Along with the Scorpio placement and the Sagittarius Sun/Moon conjunction, this Jupiter-in-Cancer is a key indicator of lasting love.

Now, I may come across sometimes as a tough broad who has seen all the angles, but I must say that Travis and Taylor not only have powerful individual charts–but even more powerful synastry. It's actually impressive. I'm a bit jealous, to be honest, as I'm sure many of us are. In the end, this isn’t about PR, unless by PR we mean something like, I don't know, “perfect relationship."

We will continue with their synastry next week to answer the question: why marriage proposal now? The astrology around this topic is fascinating. Until then, stay starry-eyed, bitches.
